Cadet Award Ceremony

Prince Frederick Cadet Squadron conducted a ceremony tonight to present several milestone awards. The awards were presented by Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans, who graciously accepted the request of the cadets and took time out of his schedule to attend. Among the awards presented were three Wright Brothers Awards, as well as one Earhart Award.

The Wright Brothers Awardees were Cadet Staff Sergeants Edward Crouch, John Rowan, and Mac Spurlock. The Wright Brothers Award is the first milestone achievement in the CAP Cadet Program, and marks the transition for cadets into the non-commissioned officer grades and the attendant supervisory responsibilities of those grades. Additionally, Cadet Captain Matthew Bevard was presented the Amelia Earhart Award. The Earhart Award is third milestone achievement in the CAP Cadet Program. It marks the transition for cadets into the senior officer grades, known as the executive phase. Only 3% of all cadets reach this level of the cadet program. Cadets who have earned the Earhart Award and continue on to participate in Air Force ROTC in college may be granted advanced credit in their leadership laboratory classes.
